New photo shoot for Sponsor USN

image image

These shots were taken at the USN sponsored South Cerney Triathlon. I was on the start line for this event, but unfortunately a catastrophic tyre failure in transition meant a DNS for me. However, it made for a great opportunity to get some publicity shots for my sponsors. The pictures from this shoot are going to be used in a full page feature written by me in 220 tri magazine in the coming months.

XTERRA WORLD TOUR SARDINIA - Italian Championships

The race took place by the azure sea at Cala Ginepro, temperature on the day was 34 degrees.

This is a fantastically organised race, professionally run and supported by the top pro triathletes from around the globe and some 500 odd age groupers. It starts with a 1500m sea swim which consists of two laps with a run along the beach in between. I had my usual average swim in what turned out to be challenging and choppy conditions, a cut lip and a whack in the eye didn’t help! Transition went well and then it was out onto the two lap bike course totaling 32km. The course if tough and hilly with some mega climbs and very technical rocky decents, many people were caught out in practice and more than once the air ambulance was in attendance. I survived unscathed this year and had a great bike leg despite the heat. The run takes full advantage of the beach setting with a two lap 10km run in amongst the trees that line the beach, over rope bridges and along the soft sandy beach. Although the run course is flat the sand makes for an energy sapping end to the race. I felt great on the run and posted the 85th overall run split in 45mins. I over took 122 athletes during the bike and run to finish 158th overall and 14th in age group in a very competitive field. Total time 3:29 mins
