Biography

I have cycled and run all of my life, both for recreation and in competition. It is roughly 10 years now since I decided to take things to the next level. I joined a triathlon club and learnt how to swim ‘properly’, I learnt the usefulness of track and interval sessions and have trained hard on honing my bike handling skills and power output. I have access to a nutritionalist and I am also lucky enough to train with and get coaching advice from some of the UK’s top triathletes and Mountain Bikers. All of which has seen huge improvements in my performances, with more to come for 2014.

Offroad and especially Xterra is where I feel most at home, and hence the most competitive. The mix of a sea/lake swim followed by a technical mountain bike ride and a challenging trail run plays to my best abilities.

I have completed the Etape du Tour, Mountain Marathons including the OMM in Dumfries and Galloway and the Mourne in Northern Ireland (1st in C Class), MTB Enduros and XC Events, Road Marathons, Cyclo Cross racing and Triathlons. I have competed for Great Britain at both European and World Championship level in Triathlons both on and off road.

Goals: My focus for 2014 is the ITU Cross Tri World Champs in Germany,  Xterra World Champs in Maui, Xterra European Tour races, Domestic MTB events and some endurance challenges to truly test my grit. Watch this space http://www.andychatterton.co.uk/blog
